4 stars: 2-Day Sichuan Private Tour to Giant Buddha, Kungfu and Temple Stay
Immerse yourself in the spiritual heart of China with a visit to the Leshan Giant Buddha and one of the country’s four sacred Buddhist mountains. This journey offers a unique opportunity to explore ancient temples, witness the daily life of monks, and connect with the deep-rooted Buddhist traditions of the region.
Day 1: Chengdu - Leshan - Mount. Emei
While driving 2 hours to Leshan city in the morning from Chengdu, you can enjoy the countryside scenery along the way. You will be able to climb up the Buddha to have a close-up look. To see more, you may walk down the narrow plank all the way to the feet of the Buddha, to discover you are only as tall as one of its toes. Itinerary: 8:00: You'll be picked up from Chengdu hotel by your private driver. 8:00-10:30: Drive to Leshan. The tour guide will meet and greet you in Leshan. 10:30-12:30: Climbing the mountain to get a closer view of the buddha. 12:30-13:30: Lunch. You’ll have a chance to taste Leshan traditional delicious food at a local restaurant.
The Baoguo Temple at the foot of the Mt. Emei is the largest temple on the Mt. Emei and the starting point for taking a tour of the Mt. Emei. The temple was built during the years of Wanli period in the Ming Dynasty. The horizontal tablet of "Baoguo Temple" was written by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. It is the place where the Mt. Emei Buddhist Society is located. You'll have a depth great experience in Baoguo Temple for one night. You will be led by master talk about Zen or meditation, vegetarian dinner at temple. Itinerary: 12:30-14:50: Drive to Mt Emei. 15:00: Check-in at Baoguo Temple. The tour guide will show you around the temple. 15:00-17:50: Free time. 18:00-18:30: Vegetarian dinner. Eat with monks. 19:00-20:00: Learn about Buddhist temple etiquette and the temple’s architecture with one of senior masters. He will also share his Buddhism knowledge with you. 20:00: Free time. Enjoy your own peace and quiet moment after crowds leave.
Day 2: Mt.Emei - Chengdu
It's a good chance to join the moring Chanting if you are early birds, and also there will be a Kungfu class in the morning. Emei Kungfu is one famous and mysterious Chinese Kungfu. Join this morning class to learn the most original Emei Kungfu. Itinerary: 6:00: Morning chanting in the temple. (If you are an early bird, don’t miss this incredible experience.) 7:30-8:10: Emei Kungfu class with Kungfu master.
First take public sight-seeing bus at the entrance of Mount Emei, you will arrive at the parking lot of Monastery of Ten Thousand Years. Jump on a cable car (optional), you can go up to the Monastery relaxingly and waste no time. The Monastery of Ten Thousand Years is the largest of the eight monasteries to be found on Mount Emei. 1,043 meters above sea level, the Monastery was built in the 4th century. The Brick Hal was built of bricks. In the hall is a statue of the Bodhisattva. Puxian on a white elephant, 8.5 meters high, cast in copper and bronze. After this, walk to Qingyinge to enjoy the natural beauty of sub-tropical forest and waterfall through a few steps. Walking forward, through a valley called Yixiantian (A Glimmer of Sky), you would come to the Monkey eco-area, where you can have close contact with lovely monkeys. Monkeys there are familiar with tourists and would pose for you to take photos if you offer them snack, but please remember to hold your camera and bags tightly in case the monkeys grab them and run away. Then you can walk to Wuxiangang Parking Lot in 20-30 minutes and take public bus back to the entrance. The whole journey takes about 2.5-3 hours. (Cost for public bus is already included in the entrance fee of Mount Emei). Itinerary as below: 9:00-9:40: Take a shuttle bus to the parking lot of Wan Nian Temple. 9:50-10:30: Visit Wan Nian Temple. 11:20-12:50: Walk to Qingyinge to enjoy the natural beauty of sub-tropical forest and waterfall through a few steps. 13:00-14:00: Lunch. 14:00-15:20: After lunch, walk to Wuxiangang Parking Lot in 20-30 minutes and take public bus back to the entrance. 15:30-18:00: Return to Chengdu.
