Guided Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding Half Day Tour with Optional Panda Volunteering
Come to encounter the cute pandas at Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, one of Chengdu's all-age-friendly attractions, including family & kids, solo, couples, and friends. This is a must-have thing to do and an impressive experience in Chengdu.
More than 80 pandas live at this downtown panda base, including some cubs rarely seen at other panda bases. Take a guided tour to see the pandas and explore in depth.
The tour will depart from the hotel (free pick-up within Chengdu Third Ring Road only) and your guide will pick you up at the hotel lobby. We will start the day at the corresponding panda base according to the package you choose. Finally, we'll be back around 11:30 a.m.
Package 1: Chengdu Panda Base Half-day Tour
At 7:30 am go to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, the base completely simulates the wild living environment of giant pandas, there are lakes, streams, bamboo forests, lawns, etc., raising more than 80 giant pandas, in addition to giant pandas, you can also see red pandas, woodpeckers, red belly chickens, peacocks, herons, and other small animals, the best time to see pandas is Before 09: 00 because there is feeding time between 9:00 and 11:00, the pandas will go to sleep after eating. Pandas are generally very afraid of heat, so it is best to arrive at around 8 o 'clock, in order to avoid the flow of people and to see the various positions of the giant panda. Finally, we'll be back around 11:30.
Specific activities are arranged as follows:
07:30 a.m Guide meet you at the hotel lobby
08:00-11:00 Visit Chengdu Panda Base
1:00-11:30 End the tour and return to the hotel
*According to the regulations of the panda base, all private vehicles are not allowed to park at the entrance of the panda base. Visitors are requested to get off at the parking lot and walk about 10 minutes to the entrance gate.
Package 2: Panda Keeper Volunteer Day Tour (At least 2 persons)
We will drive you to one of the three giant panda bases in Dujiangyan, Wolong, and Ya 'an to participate in the panda volunteer program. Note: Due to the limited number of panda keeper volunteers per day, you are unable to designate one of the three bases at the time of booking, there might be no vacancy available, but don't worry, our staff will contact you to inform the specific destination as soon as possible after receiving your order.
Requirements: 8-70, healthy, no infectious diseases.

- You get to see many pandas up close 1-2 meters and personal, and get opportunities to see red pandas, red bellied chickens, herons and woodpeckers in the center
- Observe the giant pandas with a panda-loving guide, and if the season is right, you can even see a newborn panda cub
- You can choose to upgrade the paid volunteer program, avoid the crowd, and become a panda keeper for a day
- No perfume, no cologne, no nail polish, be healthy (don’t get cold).
- Wear shoes (no slippers or Crocs).
- Sunscreen and sunglasses will be useful.
- Any activities missed due to being late will not be rescheduled, and guests will bear the consequences.
- The itinerary and timing may be subject to temporary adjustments and changes based on the health and working conditions of the giant pandas.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- A current valid passport is required on the day of travel
