In this botanical garden located near the summit of Mt. Rokko, 865 m above sea level, you can enjoy beautiful sceneries and nature in all seasons: early spring flowers breaking through the snow, the lush greenery of early summer, the red leaves coloring our garden in fall, and so on. There is also a mountain hut café and a shop selling plant-related products, so you can enjoy the nature at Mt. Rokko.
Taking advantage of the cool climate which is similar to that of southern Hokkaido, approximately 1500 species of plants are cultivated, ranging from alpine and cold area plants from around the world to Mt. Rokko's native herbs and plants. You can observe alpine plants in a state closest to their alpine environment in this garden that recreates a rocky alpine area. Early November is the best period to enjoy their view. Fiery reds and bright yellows look like an elegant tapestry.

This flower blooms open in the morning and wilts in the evening. More new flowers open up the next morning and wilt again. There are about 3000 daylily plants in the garden (1000 plants of subalpine species, 2000 plants of plateau species), so visitors can enjoy seeing daylilies for two months.
