Maruoka Castle was built during the Sengoku period. It was built by Katsutoyo, the nephew of Shibata Katsuie, based on the life of Oda Nobunaga, who had always fought against him. The Maruoka Castle was built before the Edo period, and it still exists today. There are 12 castles like this in Japan, and they are called the "12 Original Castles" and are precious castles.
